Few people in this world are capable of living with what they have. Thanks to the media and many preconceived notions of how we “should” live, we always feel pressured to reach standards that other people have set us. We’re always hungry for progress and we’ll feel like we have to measure up to the people that are above us in status or on the career ladder.
Instead, why not focus on what makes your life special to you? Why not follow your own goals instead of chasing someone else’s wishes? Here are some tips to help you learn to live with what you have.
Less is More
We’ve all heard the mantra “less is more” but is it really the key to living a happy life? Well, yes!
You see, living with less means you have fewer commitments, fewer expenses and fewer things to worry about. It’s all about cutting down on how much you have to think and worry about, meaning you’re more likely to appreciate the things you have. For example, some people would go out and purchase the latest smartphones and tablet devices as soon as they come out. This can get incredibly expensive, and you’ll likely have lots of spare devices cluttering your home.
Instead of forcing yourself to follow the latest trends, why not stick with what you have? There’s nothing wrong with having a device that’s a little older because it still performs everything you need it do. You can save that money and work towards financial freedom instead and learn to appreciate what you have now.

Another problem in today’s society is living outside of your means. Whether it’s to “fit in” with your neighbours or to appear more hip and fashionable, many people will live outside of their financial means just for the sake of appearances. Sometimes it’s not even about maintaining appearances, but for the sake of fun and entertainment.
This can get expensive and incredibly stressful and there are plenty of ways to avoid it. Lastly, we should all learn to love ourselves. We might think that we’re not good enough for something or that our appearance isn’t attractive, but we’re dealt the cards we have and we need to learn to accept what we have, including ourselves.
