This post is in collaboration with AMI Clubwear.
A couple of weeks ago I started posting some images from this collaboration on my Instagram so chances are, you may have already seen some of the amazing outfits that are on offer. As a plus size woman, I often struggle to find stylish clothing that fits well, although the choices are a lot better than they were 10 years ago so I was extremely excited to get to work with this company.
AMI Clubwear is a women’s clothing shop based in Los Angeles and was founded by Yang Yang who is famous for coining the term clubwear in the late 90s. They keep their fingers on the fashion pulse and work hard to provide customers with stylish, uniquely designed and affordable clothing.
New items are added to the site every week and whether you are looking for sexy dresses at a great price or a pair of amazing shoes, AMI Clubwear is the fashion brand helping you bring red carpet glamour to your own wardrobe.
Being more of a casual style fashionista I was a little worried about this collaboration at first. I don’t tend to go out partying very often so there isn’t much call for sexy clubwear but I was very pleasantly surprised to find that they also offer a great range of casual styles too.
Brown Faux Leather Combat Boots
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first ordered these. The sizing threw me off a little because in the UK I wear a size 6, which according to their size guide translates to a size 8 but other US companies stated that a UK size 6 was a US 8.5. Thankfully when they arrived they turned out to be a perfect fit.
Usually, when I buy brown leather shoes I have to go in and mottle them with a black shoe polish to give them a little more texture. I don’t know why but I tend to think flat colour leather looks a bit cheap — I didn’t have to do that with these boots. Considering the sale price was $19.99 I was worried they would be badly made and look cheap but in reality, they look amazing and are really well put together, much better than any pair you can but for the same price somewhere like Shoezone. As a result, they have become one of my favourite pairs of boots and are pretty much my daily go to.

Black Plunge Neck Romper
Anyone that has visited my blog more than once or twice will know that I am absolutely obsessed with rompers/playsuits and wear them an awful lot. I love the comfort, the practicality and the style of them. Plus, no more Marilyn Monroe moments for me when a strong gust of wind picks up.
I wasn’t sure of the sizing but after checking the easy to follow sizing chart that they provide I decided that as I normally wear a size 18–20 UK, a size 2X would be the best option. As you can see the outfit fits really well, although the top is a little loose so a 1X would have probably been even better and at a sale price of $12.99, it was an absolute steal. The romper has no inner lining and is made from a mixture of polyester and spandex so had a fit very similar to Jersey Knit which is so comfortable. The neckline is extremely plunging so I decided to pair with a lace bodysuit from Simply Be for the perfect casual, daytime look.

Black 2-Piece Dress
This is the outfit that surprised me the most. It was one of those where it looked amazing on the model but I wasn’t sure how that would translate on my body shape and size. Although promoted as a dress, it is a two-piece consisting of a black long-sleeved crop-top and a high waisted pencil skirt. Perfect when worn together but also versatile and can be worn separately which I love about it.
Just like with the romper, I ordered this in a 2X and because of the stretch I could have got away with ordering a 1X which would have made the skirt slightly long. The outfit is made up of a mixture of Rayon and Spandex so has a lot of stretch and at $18, it is excellent value for money. Having a bigger bust, I don’t normally go for a high neckline as I can tend to look a little too frumpy but I think because this dress is so fitted it actually looks better than a V-neck would. My only criticism is that for myself, the skirt is very long and I have to wear it extremely high-waisted otherwise it falls at just above my ankles. I guess that is just the joys of being only 5ft4in tall though. Overall, this outfit went from being one of the ones I was most worried about to the one I tend to wear all the time, whether as a dress or separately.
